Suspected tool robbery in Landers ends in arrest

An alleged robbery of tools led to a hospitalization and an arrest of a man on parole.

At around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (July 18), a witness reported an altercation between neighbors in Landers. The report made to the Sheriff’s Department indicates that an 85 year-old got into a conflict with Eddie Lowery, 52, over the whereabouts of tools in the 59000 block of Philippi Lane in Landers.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived and detained Lowery. Through their investigation, they report that Lowery and the victim got into an argument over tools, during which Lowery pushed the 85 year-old who fell to the ground.

Deputies say that Lowery then grabbed the victim’s phone, in an attempt to prevent them from contacting the police at which point Lowery walked to a nearby friend’s house.

The victim was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center for chest pains.

Lowery was located at the friends’ house and detained, and deputies say that he admitted to pushing the victim.

Eddie Lower was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held without bail.
