Two lost hikers located in Pioneertown Preserve on Saturday (3/16)

UPDATED 10 a.m. A search and rescue effort successfully located two women lost on a Pioneertown trail Saturday night (March 16.) The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call regarding the lost hikers at just before 7:30 p.m. The Sheriff's Department reported that the two women heard wildlife, which caused them to run in an unknown direction, after which they got lost. Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery board meets 3/19

The Twentynine Palms Public Cemetery District Board of Trustees meets in regular session tomorrow afternoon (March 19). On their agenda are employment issues, including a salary increase for staffers, and an overall review of cemetery staff. 10th Annual “Woof Walk” coming April 6

The 10th annual “Woof Walk” in Pioneertown has been announced for Saturday, April 6. The popular event is a fundraiser for the Joshua Tree No-Kill Shelter, and its “mane” event is a dog walk down Pioneertwon’s Mane St. Everyone is invited to the event, though participating dogs and their walkers will need to register the morning of the event. Joshua Tree Rotary holding St. Patrick’s Day Celebration today (3/17)

On Sunday night (3/17) the Rotary Club of Joshua Tree is having a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration from starting at 2PM and going to 5PM. There will be both silent and live auctions, music, food and drinks. It’s all happening at the Helen Gray Education Center at 6601 White Feather Road. Sold-out Prom hints at full spring schedule at Yucca Valley Senior Center

Two Saturdays ago on March 2nd the Town of Yucca Valley Youth Commission hosted a sold-out “Senior Prom” at the Yucca Valley Senior Center. It brought out 117 local senior citizens where they were treated to dinner by Let’s Feast catering with table service by members of the youth commission. Yucca Valley man arrested for suspected elder abuse and possession of “ghost gun”

A convicted felon arrested on suspicion of elder abuse in Yucca Valley was found with a ghost gun. On March 12, County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a caregiver threatening to murder his elderly client in the 57000 block of El Dorado Drive in Yucca Valley. The elderly victim identified his caregiver as Jose Gonzalez, 48, saying he lives at the residence along with the victim. The victim told deputies that Gonzalez threatened to kill him, then pulled out a knife and a gun…

Operation: Consequences results in 12 search warrants and 7 arrests

Between March 2 and March 8, the Sheriff’s Department served 12 search warrants related to gang members and felons believed to be in possession of weapons or narcotics as part of Operation: Consequences. Flying Doctors provide hundreds of hi-desert residents with free medical services

Last weekend's Flying Doctors event was a major success, as free dental, vision and medical services were provided to people in our community, completely free of charge. More than 200 patients were seen by the visiting doctors who volunteered their services. One of the organizers of the event tallied the estimated value of total services provided at the event as nearly $125,000. The Twentynine Palms High School Interact club is holding a food drive for residents in need. They are looking to help 100 families with bags of food that can help fill the food gap that spring break can bring to some families. They are teaming up with Reach Out Morongo Basin to hand out the food bags on April 6th at the bus loop at Twentynine Palms high school from 10 am to 12 noon. The Center for Healthy Generations is holding an "Irish Feast" fundraiser event tomorrow (March 16), and the entire community is invited.
