
Sheriff: “No credible threat existed” in potential school shooting threat at Twentynine Palms High School
The San Bernardino County Sheriff issued the following press release on August 29, 2025 at 4:23 p.m.:
Advisory: Deputies Investigate Possible School Threat and Determine the Threat is Unfounded
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, deputies at the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station received information about a potential threat of a school shooting at Twentynine Palms High School and the threat was to occur on Friday, August 29, 2025. In response, deputies immediately launched an investigation to ensure the safety of students and staff.
During the investigation, a student was identified as having a connection to the reported threat. After a thorough review, deputies concluded the student’s statements were unfounded and no credible threat existed.
As a precaution, deputies maintained a visible presence at Twentynine Palms High School during school hours to provide reassurance to students, staff, and parents.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department takes all school threats very seriously and will continue to collaborate closely with school officials to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
