Yucca Valley man turns himself in after investigation into the rape of a minor

A Yucca Valley man was arrested on suspicion of raping a minor two years ago.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was investigating the rape of a minor that occurred in June 2023 that was recently reported by the victim. As part of the investigation, the suspect, Luis Avila Valdes, a 36 year-old resident of Yucca Valley, turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Headquarters in San Bernardino.

The Sheriff’s Department did not provide additional information about the incident as the case remains under investigation.

Luis Avila Valdes was arrested for charges related to the rape of a child under the age of 10 years old and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $1,000,000 bail.
