Theatre 29 Summer Youth Theatre Program ready to take the stage
Since June 22, sixty-one Morongo Basin kids have been learning music, lyrics, lines, and choreography as they get ready to perform “Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.”. The program offers two sessions based on age groups. The “Juniors” are 7-10 years old The “Seniors” are ages 11-17,
Fall down the rabbit hole with Alice as she navigates the curious world of Wonderland on a journey of self-discovery. When young Alice finds herself in a strange world where everything seems upside down, she must find her way home…and find herself along the way. Alice in Wonderland features Disney favorites such as “The Golden Afternoon,” “The Unbirthday Song,” and “Painting the Roses Red”.
The Theatre 29 Summer Youth Theatre program is supported by generous grants from the Twentynine Palms City Council, the Rotary Clubs of Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley, the 29 Palms Kiwanis Club, The Estelle Harris family Trust, Pat Welch, Kip Otis-Diehl and other private donations. Because of the tremendous community support the program has kept fees low and offers a scholarship program, no child is turned away for financial challenges.
The Juniors are under the direction of Lisa Hodgson and the Seniors are directed by Gary Daigneault. Music direction for both sessions is by Stephanie Whitfield with original Choreography by Ava Roberts.
Theatre 29 operates from a theatre complex at 73637 Sullivan Road in the City of 29 Palms. Founded in 1999, Theatre 29 is an all-volunteer, non-profit community theatre organization. Donations are actively sought and will be gratefully accepted.
Performances are set for July 23-26 and tickets are now available at theatre29.org. The Juniors will perform at 4:00PM on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with a Sunday matinee at 1:00PM. The Seniors will be on stage Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:00PM and Sunday at 4:00PM.
