Podcast: Captain Steve Scovel discusses terms of MCAGCC collaboration in the case of military crimes
On last Friday’s (June 26) episode of the Z107.7 Up Close Show, host Gary Daigneault spoke with Captain Steve Scovel of the Sheriff’s Morongo Basin Station. Daigneault asked Captain Scovel about the working relationship between the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the personnel at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
“We have a great relationship with the base. They’ll call us out if they have a crime on base that’s related to a civilian, not a military member. We’ll actually do the investigation on that. If it is a military member, they generally take over the investigation. They have their own jail. It’s all handled ‘in-house’ by the Marine Corps.
“But if a civilian is involved in that crime, even if it’s on the base, that’s where we will get involved.”
