Four mile pursuit through Twentynine Palms leads to one arrest

A high speed pursuit through Twentynine Palms led to one arrest.

On Wednesday morning (July 29) at 2:10 a.m. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies say they witnessed a white sedan swerving into opposing lanes of traffic near the intersection of Adobe Road and Civic Center Drive in Twentynine Palms. Deputies identified the driver as Luis Gonzalez, 29, and say he did not yield to sirens.

Deputies say Gonzalez led them on a four-mile, high-speed pursuit through Twentynine Palms, during which he failed to stop at traffic signs. Deputies say he stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Sunnyslope Drive and Morongo Road in Twentynine Palms. Gonzalez was taken into custody at 2:40 a.m. without further incident.

Luis Gonzalez was arrested on suspicion of evading law enforcement with disregard for public safety. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $50,000 bail.
