Man on parole arrested in Yucca Valley for investigation into imprisonment

A man convicted of child abuse was arrested after imprisoning several people, including one teenager.

On Wednesday (August 5) at around 5:30 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report that a man was preventing people from leaving a home in the 56000 block of Anaconda Drive in Yucca Valley. Deputies say that Angel Castro, 37, entered the victim’s home and prevented her from leaving. The victim was able to escape from the home, but her teenage son did not. Deputies say Castro held the son inside the home against his will.

Deputies established a perimeter around the home, and the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division took over the investigation. Residents in nearby homes were evacuated. Deputies say that Castro refused repeated communication attempts to Castro.

The Sheriff’s Department said that nearly 12 hours later, at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday (August 6), Castro voluntarily surrendered. Deputies say Castro had a self-inflicted stab wound to his neck. He was treated for injuries and arrested. He was found to have a felony warrant and was in violation of parole.

Angel Castro was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and violating parole. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.
