Updated: Yucca Valley Man dies after “vehicle vs. bicycle” collision

Updated 09/05/25 @ 9:27 a.m. – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has identified the deceased as Yucca Valley resident Leon Dowd, 64.


A man was killed in a collision involving a car and a bicycle.

On Thursday (September 4) at around 12:50 p.m. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a collision near the intersection of Joshua Lane and Pueblo Trail in Yucca Valley. The Sheriff’s department described the collision as a “vehicle vs. bicycle,” and said that the cyclist suffered from major injuries at the scene.

The cyclist was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead Thursday evening (9/4). His name has not yet been released by the Riverside Coroner’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Department says that an investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

On August 25, an unrelated vehicle versus bicycle collision on Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms left one man dead.
