Injured Yucca Valley man calls 911, allegedly attacks firefighters sent to treat him

After calling for medical assistance, a man was arrested on suspicion of attacking responding firefighters.

On Friday (August 28) at around 11:40 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies and San Bernardino County Fire Crews responded to a report of an injured person in the 7300 block of Elata Avenue in Yucca Valley. The Sheriff’s Department say that Mark Garcia, 33, called 911 to report his own injuries. They say they located him in an open desert area near Essig Park.

Deputies say that Garcia struck responding County Fire medics. They say he pulled away from deputies when they attempted to restrain him, causing minor injuries to a deputy. No one from County Fire reported any injuries.

Garcia was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment for his injuries, and then booked into the West Valley Detention Center.

Marck Garcia was arrested on suspicion of obstructing an executive officer and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $30,000 bail.
