Horse killed in collision off Highway 62 in Joshua Tree

A horse was killed and a driver injured in an early-morning collision near Highway 62 in Joshua Tree.
On Wednesday (September 17) at around 2:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received a report of a vehicle versus horse collision on Highway 62 near Sierra Avenue. The CHP says that a Chevrolet SUV collided with a horse in the highway, killing the horse and injuring the driver. The horse was without a rider and the CHP did not provide information about where it came from or its owners.
The CHP said that the driver complained of minor injuries. No DUI was suspected.
The horse was removed from the roadway by 4:00 a.m. The CHP has not released the identity of the horse.
