Explore the colorful and wild world of florescence at Hi-Desert Nature Museum’s Saturday STEAM workshop
Illuminate your imagination while exploring the fascinating science behind fluorescence and find out what makes these vibrant colors pop! On Saturday, December 13, the Hi-Desert Nature Museum invites children ages 9 to 14 to dive into the quantum realm to discover how color, energy and light interact to make eye-dazzling effects.
This STEAM workshop aims to shine light on the hidden world of color at the edge of human perception through engaging demonstrations using UV light to observe fluorescence in a surprising number of everyday materials. Students will get inspiration from examining the practical applications of photoluminescent pigments and dyes in the fields of geology, medicine, wildlife biology, engineering and design, and then create unique, eye-catching works of art bursting with color using non-toxic fluorescent paint on canvas!
All materials for the workshop are supplied by the museum. Advance sign ups are required, and the registration fee is $15 per participant.
You can register right now at hidesertnaturemuseum.org or in person at the museum prior to Dec. 13.
