Couple in golf cart allegedly held at gunpoint in Yucca Valley; suspect arrested

After an alleged attempted robbery in Yucca Valley, a convicted felon was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

On Saturday (May 23) at around 7:15 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault near the intersection of Pueblo Trail and Valley Vista Avenue in Yucca Valley. Deputies say that two people in a golf cart were being held at gunpoint in a robbery. Deputies identified the suspect, Steven Davis, Jr. 45, and say he used a semi-automatic handgun and used his vehicle to prevent the victims from escaping in their golf cart.

Deputies say Davis fled the scene in his vehicle and the victims called 911. At around 9:00 p.m., deputies located Davis near the intersection of Joshua Lane and Onaga Trail. Davis was taken into custody, and found to be a convicted felon.

Steven Davis, Jr. was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and driving on suspended license. Davis is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $260,000 bail.
