Sex offender driving without license plate arrested for failing to register with state

A traffic stop on Old Woman Springs Road led to the arrest of sex offender suspected of failing to register.

On Monday (August 17) at around noon, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on Old Woman Springs Road near Duarte Lane in Yucca Valley. Deputies say the vehicle was stopped for not having a front license plate.

The driver was identified by deputies as Veston Ash, a 53 year-old transient. Deputies determined that Ash was a sex offender and they say he had failed to register with the state of California for more than 30 days, violating the terms of his release.

Veston Ash was arrested on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $30,000 bail.
