Yucca Valley Planning Commission recap for 12/9

A light agenda was made lighter last night as the single variance that the commission was set to discuss has been pushed until January 13th. The additional time is to locate comment letters from properties adjacent to the home in question located in the 58000 block of Alta Mesa drive. The property is requesting a variance on the town code to retain a six-foot tall fence that is along the front and side of the lot. A four-foot fence is allowed by the town’s development code.
Senior Planner Jared Jerome also gave a land development update. Starbucks west has broken ground with an official start to the project. Dominos/Jersey Mikes construction crew is back on site, and Sun Mesa Mini Storage and Dutch Brothers are also moving through the CEQA process and expect to be in front of the commission in January or early February.
Chair Alejandro Vasconcelos wrapped the meeting saying that the commission has “accomplished some good things… we couldn’t get there without town staff support and providing us good information so that we are informed on all of our decisions that we make up here. So we really appreciate all the hard work that town staff does and prepares us for these meetings.”
The next regular meeting of the Yucca Valley Planning Commission has been cancelled due to lack of agenda items.
The next regular meeting is going to be held on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
