Catherine Auman’s talk at Hi-Desert Artists Gallery on Thursday (3/26)
Author and therapist Catherine Auman will be at the Hi-Desert Artists Gallery, sharing her work on emotional healing, relationships, and what she calls “the art of awakening.” Reporter Hilary Sloane has more…
Catherine Auman is an artist and author whose work combines psychology and spirituality. Her approach is grounded in decades of experience as a licensed marriage and family therapist.
Now living in Yucca Valley, Auman states her work has always focused on helping people slow down, see themselves, and understand their relationships more clearly.
Her upcoming talk will blend stories from her early years in a performance art troupe, her writing career, and the deeply personal work she does with clients.
“My talk is called The Art of Awakening. When the gallery asked me to speak, I said, would you like me to start with my early performance art? I’m writing a memoir about that now, with photographs. We’ll begin there, then move through my writing career and how it’s always been about awakening.”

Her book, Guide to Spiritual LA, is available at the gallery. It has received both the Nautilus Book Award and the NIEA Award.
She’ll also share excerpts from a work-in-progress memoir, reflecting on creativity, female friendships, and the freedom to create art without permission.
The evening features an informal, open conversation that encourages reflection and discussion.
It takes place on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Hi-Desert Artists Gallery in Yucca Valley. A 10 dollar donation is suggested.
