Two teens arrested in Yucca Valley after alleged attempts at auto theft and spitting on officer

A 16 year-old and a 14 year-old were arrested in Yucca Valley on suspicion of attempting to steal cars in a parking lot and resisting arrest.
On Monday (December 8) at 7:38 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Wal-Mart/Home Depot parking lot on Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley. A witness told deputies that two juveniles were breaking car windows and attempting to steal cars. Deputies said that six cars were vandalized with broken windows and three cars had their ignition damaged by the suspects.
Deputies say they took the two suspects into custody, when the 16 year-old refused to get into the Sheriff’s vehicle and spit on the deputy. The Sheriff’s Department says that the deputy was treated on the scene.
The 16 year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft and resisting arrest, and was taken to a juvenile detention facility. The 14 year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft and released to their parents.
