Yucca Valley opens registration for Wee Hoops Academy youth basketball program

The Town of Yucca Valley Parks and Recreation has opened registration for the Wee Hoops Academy. Now in its third season, the youth basketball program is designed for Pre-K and Kindergarten children ages 4–5 and provides a fun, supportive introduction to the fundamentals of basketball.

The coed program offers age-appropriate instruction in a fun, noncompetitive environment. Participants will learn essential basketball skills, including shooting, ball control, offense, defense and basic team concepts through engaging drills and scrimmage-style games. All equipment and activities are designed specifically for young players to ensure a safe, positive and enjoyable experience.

The six-week program will begin Sept. 24 and will be held on Thursdays.

The registration fee is $55 and includes six weeks of instruction, a program T-shirt, group team picture, completion medal and a pizza party to celebrate the end of the season. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.

Registration is available online at yucca-valley.org or in person at the Yucca Valley Community Center, Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
