Two unrelated car fires on Highway 62 slows traffic but no injuries reported

Two vehicle fires on Highway 62 snarled traffic for Morongo Basin commuters on Tuesday.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle fire at 10:52 a.m. in the eastbound lane of Twentynine Palms Highway just west of Desert Willow Trail in Morongo Valley. One lane of traffic was closed while responders extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. 

A second car fire was reported at around 12:15 p.m. on Twentynine Palms Highway near Hess Boulevard by the county line in Morongo Valley. The vehicle that caught fire was a tow truck pulling two separate vehicles.  The fire was extinguished by 12:30 and no injuries were reported. One lane on the highway was closed for about thirty minutes.
