
Twentynine Palms High School Track & Field defend Desert Valley League title
The Twentynine Palms High School Track and Field team traveled to Indio in their first Desert Valley League contest. The Lady Wildcats began to defend their League Title with a 89-26 victory, while the boys were overwhelmed 90-33.
The top scorers for the girls were Senior Anea Haynes (16.25 points) and Freshman Jada Nelson (13 points).
Haynes dominated the 400m (1:01.43), 100m (13.12), 200m (26.52) and anchored the winning 4×4 relay with Janaya Henderson, Jazmyn James, and Sabrina Graham.
Nelson won the HJ with a league qualifying mark of 4’6″ in her first attempt at the event. She also took first in the triple jump with a mark of 29’6″, also a league qualifying mark. She finished second in the long jump with a mark of 13’8″.
Coy Wallace was the top scorer for the boys with 12.25 points. He jumped 5’6 in the high jump, taking first place. He also earned second with a 17’9″ in the long jump, and second place in the 100m with a personal record and league qualifying time of 11.32.
Senior Scott Frank ran a personal record 15.36 placing #3 overall in Southern Section CIF Division 4 in the 110m high hurdles.
Next week the Wildcats will host Coachella Valley high school in a Desert Valley League battle!
