Truck pursuit through Twentynine Palms ends with arrest of driver on probation

A man on probation led deputies on a vehicle pursuit through Twentynine Palms.

On Sunday (May 10) at around 5:00 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Ford F250 near the intersection of Amboy Road and Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms. Deputies say the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed. Deputies say that the vehicle did not stop, and continued at high speeds east toward Wonder Valley and eventually stopped on Raymond Drive near Indian Trail. They identified the driver of the truck as Darrell Chavez, 57, who was found to be on probation.

Darrell Chavez was arrested on suspicion of evading law enforcement with disregard to public safety and violating the terms of his probation. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $130,000 bail.
