Sheriff seeking public’s help in suspected dog poisoning investigation

The Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help regarding an investigation into a suspected dog poisoning.

A press release issued Thursday (July 16) by the Sheriff’s Department says that detectives responded to a home in Yucca Valley after receiving a report about a dog becoming ill. The report said that the dog became ill after eating a chicken bone laced with anti-freeze. The dog required emergency veterinary treatment after ingesting the suspected poison and later died as a result.

Detectives said they are aware of other unverified reports of dogs being poisoned; however, the Sheriff’s Department has not been made directly aware of any additional incidents and is asking anyone with information to contact the Morongo Basin station.
