Sex offender arrested towing stolen trailer after failing to register with state

A convicted sex offender was arrested on suspicion of driving with a stolen trailer in Twentynine Palms.
On Monday (August 31) at around 4:50 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies identified a stolen trailer in-tow being driven through Twentynine Palms. Deputies say that an automated license plate reader notified the Sheriff’s Department that the trailer entered Twentynine Palms, and that they were able to track its movement eastbound on Twentynine Palms Highway.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop near National Park Drive and Cactus Drive in Twentynine Palms. They identified the driver as Tom Mock, a 34 year-old resident of Joshua Tree. Mock is a convicted sex offender, and deputies say he had not registered himself per the terms of his release. Mock was taken into custody. The trailer was returned to its owner.
Tom Mock was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property and violating sex registrant requirements. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center on $30,000 bail.
