SCE plans power power outages for Pioneertown, parts of Yucca Valley, Morongo Valley

Southern California Edison (SCE) has announced a planned Public Safety Power Shutoff affecting the Pioneertown Circuit, which includes areas within Yucca Valley, Pioneertown and Rimrock. An outage is planned for areas in Morongo Valley north of Twentynine Palms Hwy.
The planned outage in Yucca Valley is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, and is expected to last until 6:00 p.m.
The outage in Morongo Valley is scheduled to begin at noon and is expected to last until 6:00 p.m.
Neither of these outages are certain, but SCE is providing a warning so that residents can prepare for a potential shut-off.
SCE says that shut-off events are precautionary power shutoffs during periods of extreme fire risk, such as high winds, dry conditions and low humidity, as part of SCEs attempt to prevent wildfires.
SCE will open a Community Resource Center (CRC), located in the Yucca Room at the Yucca Valley Community Center, 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway. The CRC will be available to the public on Thursday, August 14, from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m. At the community center, residents will be provided with an air-conditioned space to stay cool and charge essential devices such as phones, laptops and medical equipment. Visitors will also have access to water, snacks and updated outage information. Ice vouchers will also be available for those who need them.
Residents seeking information about the PSPS event, outage maps or other resources are encouraged to contact SCE directly at 800-611-1911 or visit sce.com/outage-center/check-outage-status.
