Rollover on Hwy 62 sends driver to hospital
A man who was not wearing a seatbelt was injured in a collision on Twentynine Palms Highway after swerving to avoid an animal.
On Wednesday morning (July 9) at around 5:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol says that Twajae Kimble, a 20 year-old resident of Phoenix, was driving a Lexus westbound on Twentynine Palms Highway in the Sheephole Valley Wilderness near mile post marker 58. The CHP sasys that Kimble made an unsafe maneuver which caused his vehicle to leave the roadway and overturn, ultimately landing on its wheels.
They say that Kimble told CHP Officer J. Griffin that he had swerved to avoid an animal, and was able to leave the vehicle and call 911. Kimble was taken by Morongo Basin Amublance to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment for a possible head injury.
The CHP’s investiagtion found that Kimble was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Kimble was 30 year-old. The CHP ammended their original statement to clarify that he is 20.
