Driver charged with DUI after vehicle rollover in Landers puts two in the hospital

On Sunday (July 6) a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek driven by 30-year-old Nicolas Daniel Alfredo Gabella was traveling eastbound on Reche Road when Gabella failed to slow down for an upcoming turn onto Border Avenue, driving into the dirt and rolling the Subaru onto its roof.

According to a California Highway Patrol Press Release, Gabella was traveling with 35 year-old Kaylee Lachele Benz who appeared to have sustained minor injuries in the crash. Both Gabella and Benz were able to exit the vehicle and they remained on scene until CHP Officers arrived. Officers say that at the scene Gabella was exhibiting signs of alcohol intoxication and that he had admitted to recently consuming alcohol.

Both Gabella and Benz were transported by Morongo Basin Ambulance to the Hi-Desert Medical Center.

Nicolas Daniel Alfredo Gabella, 30, of Los Angeles, was cleared by hospital staff and booked at the West Valley Detention Center with two felony charges of driving under the influence causing bodily injury.
