Register now for hand lettering workshop being held on 11/21 at Hi-Desert Nature Museum

The Town of Yucca Valley invites residents to discover the craft of hand lettering with local artist Derek McDonald of Golden West Sign Arts in a full-day creative workshop this November 21.

Hosted by the Hi-Desert Nature Museum, they invite you to learn traditional hand lettering and discover how simple strokes become works of art. This immersive, six-hour workshop invites participants to explore the artistry, precision and nostalgia of hand lettering.

Participants will explore the fundamentals of hand lettering, including brush control, sketching letters, spacing and composition. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, attendees will develop foundational skills while discovering their own lettering style. No prior experience is necessary.

The workshop will take place on Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., with a lunch break from noon to 1 p.m. The registration fee is $100 per person, which includes all workshop materials. Space is limited, and advanced registration is required.
