Palms-N-Paws partners with Wings of Rescue to fly rescue dogs to east coast

Another group of stray dogs from Twentynine Palms will have a new chance at a stable home life when they are flown to the east coast.

Eleven dogs currently residing at Palms-N-Paws animal shelter in Twentynine Palms are boarding a flight to new hope. The City-run animal shelter is collaborating with the Wings of Rescue program and the San Diego Humane Society to transport the dogs to less-populated shelters on the east coast.

This is the second flight of dogs sent from Twentynine Palms to east coast shelter. They collaborated with Wings of Rescue to transport nine dogs in July.

Twentynine Palms is sending eight puppies to Happy Life Animal Rescue in New York, one puppy to For the Love of Dogs in Vermont, and two adult dogs to the P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center in Maine.

Wings of Rescue is a group of volunteer pilots who transport at-risk dogs and cats from kill shelters to no-kill shelters. As Palms-n-Paws continues to partner with outside organizations and shelters in their effort to achieve no-kill status.

Rick Boyd the, Animal Control Manager for Twentynine Palms expressed his enthusiasm for the program, saying “This is the kind of collaboration that reminds us of what’s possible when a community truly comes together for animals.”

Z107.7 wishes these dogs a safe and happy journey with several in-flight treats.

There’s still plenty of dogs and cats at the Palms-n-Paws animal shelter looking for local families. You can meet their animals Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. They are located at 7086 Bullion Avenue in Twentynine Palms
