Overnight construction continues on accident-heavy Old Woman Springs Road

Old Woman Springs Road will continue with nightly paving operations this week from Sunday (7/20) to Thursday (7/24) beginning at 7:00 p.m. and going until 6:00 a.m in the morning.
This week work activities will begin at southbound SR-247 and Ocotillo Road with lane closure and flagging operation. Approximate flagging wait times per side are expected to be around 20 minutes, so plan-ahead and be mindful of work area signage.
The work is part of Caltrans 21.9 million pavement rehabilitation and shoulder widening project for the two land rural highway. It’s being funded through Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
Old Woman Springs Road continues to be a dangerous stretch of highway, with rollovers and collisions claiming lives every single year – including a few incidents in the past week.
Keep an eye on passing lanes and double check to make sure someone isn’t passing on a double yellow when taking a turn across traffic or passing a slower vehicle yourself.
