“Old Spanish Trail” historical talk at Old Schoolhouse Museum in 29 Palms Friday, 12/9

The 29 Palms Historical Society will be hosting their monthly Second Friday Lecture Series this Friday (December 9th) at the Old Schoolhouse Museum.

Called “History and Change on the Old Spanish Trail from Mountain Springs, Nevada to Salt Creek” – the talk is sponsored by the Desert Institute at Joshua Tree National Park and the 29 Palms Historical Society.

As an artery for Mexican pack mule trains, Manifest Destiny, mountain men, horse thieves, and the slave trade, the Old Spanish Trail had a significant impact on changing the landscape of the West.

The presentation will cover the history of the trail as well as the changing landscape of historical trails, with video presentations from historians and naturalists featured in the PBS/FNX documentary of the same name.

The lecture begins at 7pm with a $5 fee at the door of the Old Schoolhouse Museum, located at 6760 National Park Dr. in 29 Palms. For more information, call the Desert Institute at (760) 819-4714.
