Body discovered near Amboy crater identified; cause of death still under investigation
The dead body found near the Amboy Crater in August has been identified.
On Sunday (August 30) at around 4:15 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call near the Amboy Crater. The call was from a person who spotted a dead body while hiking in the area of the Amboy Crater Trail. The Sheriff’s Department said that the body was found in the open desert, and the Coroner’s office responded to the scene.
The deceased has been identified as John Arpad, a 72 year-old resident of Colorado Springs. The Coroner indicates that his cause of death is still under investigation, but that the circumstances surrounding his death are not being investigated as suspicious.
