Updated August 12 with an additional candidate for MUSD District 1.
While the deadline to file to run as a candidate expired Friday, the deadline has been extended to Wednesday, August 12, for four government agencies because an incumbent is not running for re-election. The deadline was extended for Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency, Hi-Desert Memorial Healthcare District, Morongo Valley Community Services District, and the Yucca Valley Airport District.
Several agencies have uncontested races. They are: Twentynine Palms City Council District 1 in which council member Steve Bilderain is running unopposed. Kerri Condley is unopposed in 3rd District, Morongo Unified School District. Also unopposed are Jim Byerrum, who was appointed to fill Dan Munsey’s seat after his resignation from the Hi-Desert Water District; and Jane Jarlsberg and Tom Floen at the Joshua Basin Water District.
Also uncontested are Michael McBride and Megan Close-Dees for two seats on the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency; and Bob Stadum and Scot McKone for two seats at the Hi-Desert Water District. For Yucca Valley Town Council, David Simmons will challenge incumbent Jeff Drozd in District 2, and Jeff Brady, Myra Kennedy, and Travis Puglisi will face incumbent Robert Lombardo in District 4.
For Twentynine Palms City Council, Jim Krushat will face incumbent Joel Klink in District 2.
For Copper Mountain College, incumbents Mary Lombardo, Dick Rogers, and Greg Gilbert are facing challengers Tyler “Thomas” Short, and Supinda Sirihekaphong.
Candidates for District 1 of the school district are Ashley Aguilar, Aaron Kyle, and Robert Hamilton; in district 2 the candidates are Cathy Nelson and Patrick Crow.
Running against incumbent Johnny Tolbert for the Morongo Valley CSD are Susan Lefevre, Ivan K. Murray, and Christina Gorke.
There are four people running for three open seats in the healthcare district: incumbent Dianne Markle-Greenhouse, Dale Mondary, Denise Cullum, and Gregory Brown.
And three people are running for one seat in District 5 of Joshua Basin Water District: Paul Franklin Coate, Stacy Doolitte, and Robert Johnson.
And current MUSD trustee Karalee Hargrove is running for the county school board, Area E, against Alise Clouser, David Raley, and Andrea DeLeon.
