Theatre 29 opens “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’ March 27”

Hear ye, Hear ye! The Prince is giving a ball….or so the story goes as Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella hits the Theatre 29 stage beginning March 27th!  Arts & Entertainment Reporter Charlie Thomas advises you to secure your tickets before the clock strikes midnight…

The magic is back for Theatre 29 as the Morongo Basin’s Premier Theater venue brings its spring musical, “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella”, to the Twentynine Palms stage.

Show director Gary Daigneault said Theatre 29 wanted to start the season with a light, family-friendly show.  “We did great shows that were a bit dramatic like ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Streetcar Named Desire’ and ‘Marjorie Prime’ and with ‘Cinderella’, this version is so charming, clocking in at about two hours, it will be a great night out for the whole family.”

Opening night is 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 27 for a three-week run at Theatre 29, 73637 Sullivan Road. Shows begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Sundays at 2:30. For tickets, visit theatre29.org or call the box office at 760-361-4151 and leave a message.

The innocent desire to attend the prince’s ball leads young Cinderella to overcome her depressing life of servitude to achieve her dream of a better life. With a score made famous by some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.” The new Broadway stage adaptation is a contemporary take on the classic tale with an updated hilarious libretto by Tony® Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane, still retaining all the romance and magic of the original.

The Theatre 29 production is under the musical direction of Bill Barrett and choreographed by Karen Gladis.
