Accomplished author Mari Collier has just published her third novel, Earthbound. A Twentynine Palms resident, Collier will hold a book signing at the Twentynine Palms Library this Saturday from 2 to 3. Reporter Kristy Lockhart sat down with her to discuss the book and why she decided to retire in the desert…
Earthbound is the third book in Mari Collier’s science fiction series. “There’s two different aliens stranded on earth.” Collier says she first dreamt up the story when she was a young girl. Collier has always been drawn to science fiction. “You go to strange new worlds, you have different cultures that you can write about, different people, morals and beliefs.” Collier lives in Twentynine Palms, where she spends most of her time reading, writing and enjoying her family. “I’m a refugee from Iowa. I can’t live there.” You can find Earthbound and Collier’s other novels, Gather the Children and Before We Leave at most book stores. Collier is now working on the final book where the main character returns to his homeland.
