Yucca Valley Youth Commission holding food drive for Unity Home
The Town of Yucca Valley’s Youth Commission a food drive to support local families affected by domestic violence. They are asking for donations of non-perishable food items and dry goods to benefit. All donations will be given to Unity Home, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing shelter, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic violence.
Food collection boxes will be available at the Yucca Valley Community Center and the Yucca Valley Senior Center now through May 22.
Community members are encouraged to contribute items such as:
- canned foods
- pasta
- rice
- cereal
- Shelf-stable goods
- non-perishable food items
Perishable or expired items will not be accepted.
The Youth Commission is composed of local students committed to civic engagement and community service and they say they chose this initiative to raise awareness and offer tangible support to vulnerable families in the Morongo Basin.
