A Yucca Valley woman was killed Wednesday night (January 15) when a truck turned left in front of her motorcycle. The Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigative team said about 11:16 p.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Prescott Avenue for a traffic collision. They found that a Kawasaki motorcycle, ridden by Nicole “Nicci” Dobbins, 33, was going west on Twentynine Palms Hwy., approaching Prescott Avenue. A moving truck was traveling east on Twentynine Palms Hwy. The driver of the moving truck, Rocio Diaz, 52, of Yucca Valley never saw the motorcycle and attempted to turn left onto Prescott Avenue into the path the motorcycle. Dobbins attempted to avoid the collision but collided with the front of the moving truck. She sustained major injuries and was transported to Hi-Desert Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the moving truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. It does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station at (760) 366-4175.
