The Yucca Valley High School varsity Trojan football team beat the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles 57-23. The Trojans’ offense was on fire all night, led by Elijah Lynch. Lynch completed 17 out 28 passes for a season high of 304 yards and five touchdowns.
Caleb Robinson had an outstanding night on offense as well, carrying the ball seven times for 97 yards and two touchdowns. He also had five catches for 81 yards and one touchdown. Albert Montez-Reyes led the Trojans with eight receptions and Seth Nounnan added two touchdown catches. The Trojans had a total of 509 yards on offense.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Trojans were led by Ian Munger with eight tackles. Linebacker Joe Jennings had seven tackles and three quarterback sacks. The Trojan defense forced four turnovers and held DHS to six points in the second half. The win moves the Trojan record to 7-2, 2-2 in league play.
The big rivalry game with the Twentynine Palms Wildcats will take place this Friday. Junior varsity starts at 4 and varsity starts at 7 p.m.
The junior varsity Trojans beat Desert Hot Springs 72-30. This was the most points our junior varsity has scored all year. The team was led by quarterback Braden Brimhall.
The defense did a great job in the second half by limiting DHS’s points and possessions. The win brings their record to 8-1, 3-1 in league play.
