
YUCCA VALLEY SWIMMERS DEFEAT CATHEDRAL CITY

Yucca Valley High School Trojan
swimmers traveled to Cathedral City High School Wednesday for their
fifth league dual meet. They proved that every race counts
winning 84-73 for boys and 100-70 for girls.

said the boys were down 22-19 at the end of the individual relay, and
picked up a lead after the 50-freestyle with Wyatt Gill and Ryley
Arrona’s one-two finish. Carl Manter out-touched the Cathedral
City flyer with a time of 1:04.03 to 1:04.82 and to help the Trojans
gain the lead, 37-30. They held their lead throughout the
remainder of the meet.
The ladies kicked off the meet with a CIF-consideration time of 2:14.09 in the 200-medley relay with Makayla Manter swimming backstroke, Ashley Amstutz the breaststroke, Kaylee Powellthe fly, and Markina Evdokimoff-freestyle. Markina lowered her 500-meter freestyle CIF consideration time to a 6:19.53.
The ladies now have three of three relays and four of seven individual events with consideration times. Both teams are undefeated 5-0, and they will swim their last two league meets at home. Wednesday, April 3, they take on Desert Mirage and Wednesday, April 10, Twentynine Palms.
