A man was arrested in Yucca Valley for investigation into attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man he drove home from a bar.
Early Sunday morning at around 12:45 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the 6400 block of Hermosa Ave in Yucca Valley. As part of their investigation, deputies say that the victim and another adult were drinking at a bar with the suspect, identified as Ruben Mendoza, a 67 year-old resident of Yucca Valley. Deputies say Mendoza gave the victim, identified as a 34 year-old man, and the third adult a ride home from the bar. Deputies say that Mendoza and the victim got into an argument which escalated into Mendoza stabbing the victim.
The victim’s family contacted deputies, and Mendoza was located and arrested Sunday evening.
The Sheriff’s Department did not provide information related to the status of the victim.
Ruben Mendoza was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.
