YUCCA VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF TRYING TO RUN OVER DEPUTY ARRESTED THURSDAY

A man suspected of trying to run over a deputy during a pursuit in Yucca Valley last week was arrested Thursday. Deputies from the Special Investigations team say that a deputy attempted a traffic stop October 18 on a white Ford pick-up truck in the area of Hwy 62 and Hwy 247 for a vehicle code violation. The driver, later identified as Jeremy Sazanowicz, 41, failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued shortly before 8:30 p.m. Several minutes into the pursuit, Sazanowicz, traveling west on Skyline Ranch Road, attempted to run over the deputy, and the deputy shot at the vehicle. A resident on Skyline Ranch Road told Z107.7 News that they heard about five gunshots about 8:30 p.m. Sazanowicz went another 100 yards until the road became impassable. He then got out of his vehicle and fled on foot into the desert. An extensive search was conducted of the surrounding area using deputies, a Sheriff’s helicopter, and a K9 unit. About 7 p.m. Thursday, investigators went to a home in the 7600 block of Cibola Trail in Yucca Valley about 7 p.m. Thursday where they arrested Jeremy Sazanowicz on suspicion of attempted murder. Jeremy Sazanowicz was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $1 million.
