Yucca Valley Lady Trojan Basketball dominates Desert Valley League with wins against DHS

The Yucca Valley Lady Trojan varsity basketball team bounced back from a tough weekend loss to claim a 65-7 Desert Valley League win over Desert Hot Springs High School Tuesday evening (January 10) in Trojan Gym.

The Yucca girls swarmed the visiting Golden Eagles from the opening tip jumping out to a 43-2 halftime lead. Both coaches agreed to a running for the second half as the Lady Trojans stayed undefeated in league action with a 7-0 record.

Senior Ashley Lowe was on fire from the 3 point line knocking down seven baskets from long range on her way to a season high 24 points. Junior Cadence Tarrant continued her impressive season pumping in 17 points while sophomore Tayla Monroy was solid scoring 9 points. Senior Malia Ulery dished out 10 assists while scoring 6 points and fellow senior Jaylie Schreiber added 5 points. Both senior Julia Castillo and sophomore CeCe Gilmore each scored 2 points to close out the scorebook.

The win moved the team’s overall record to 15-5  with a game at Indio High School tomorrow (January 12) next on the DVL schedule.

Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM
