A Yucca Valley man is accused of being a felon in possession of four guns. About 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies stopped a vehicle near Mountain View Trail and Deer Trail in Yucca Valley for a vehicle violation. The deputy determined that Derek Carter, 36, was a convicted felon on probation, and made a search of the vehicle and Carter’s possession. During the search, four guns and ammunition were discovered; as a convicted felon, Carter is not allowed to be in possession of either. Derek Carter was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
