A Yucca Valley felon was arrested Saturday (July 31) accused of being in possession of a firearm following an investigation into elder abuse. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies responded to the 60000 block of Stearman Road in Landers around 2 p.m. Sunday (July 18) for a report of an assault. Deputies determined that an elderly female victim was assaulted, causing significant injuries. The suspect was identified as James Nobles, 41, of Yucca Valley. Nobles fled the location before the Deputies arrived and was considered to be armed and dangerous. A $250,000 arrest warrant was issued for Nobles.
Around 4 p.m. Saturday (July 31), deputies received a tip that Nobles had been seen near the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Whitefeather Road. Deputies located Nobles as a passenger in a U-Haul rental truck. He was taken into custody without incident. The driver of the U-Haul, Brittney King, 31 of Landers, was also arrested on $50,000 in warrants. During their investigation, Deputies determined that Nobles rented a storage unit where he kept an illegal firearm. Deputies served a search warrant and recovered an assault rifle and ammunition. Nobles was arrested for investigation of elder abuse and felon in possession of a firearm and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $450,000. Brittney King was arrested on her warrants and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with her bail set at $50,000.
