A Yucca Valley convicted felon was arrested Monday (February 22), after deputies found him with a rifle. Deputies were called to the 56600 block of Handley Road in Yucca Valley about 1:40 p.m. by a neighbor who reported hearing a generator and smelling a strong chemical smell coming from the property. When deputies arrived, they determined the noise and smell were coming from a motor home on the property. Inside the home was Robert Syverson, 57, of Yucca Valley. Deputies could see a 22-caliber Remington rifle in the motorhome. As a convicted felon, Syverson is prohibited from owning firearms. Deputies obtained a search warrant and seized the rifle. No drugs were found, and the smell was determined to be from the generator which was running the motor home. Robert Syverson was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
