It was all pomp and circumstance, haircuts and shiny shoes, and proud parents with cameras ready last night at Yucca Valley Elementary School. Reporter Mike Lipsitz tells us why…
Some 23 students from the fourth, fifth and sixth grades were inducted into the Yucca Valley Elementary School Chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society. Recognized for high standards of scholarship, responsibility, service and leadership, the young achievers pledged their allegiance to the organization’s principles, thereby joining the 14 sitting members of the Basin’s only chapter of the Elementary Honor Society. And with membership comes a commitment to not only to scholastic achievements, but also to service projects both on campus and in the community. According to sixth grade teacher and Honor Society advisor, Kojo McCallum, participation in elementary school paves the way for students to join the Junior Honor Society in middle school and the Honor Society in high school.
