Yucca Valley Animal Shelter putting a pause on owner turn-ins

The Yucca Valley Animal Shelter announced that they will no longer owner turn-ins. Citing limited available space, the shelter will focus on animals currently in their care and stray animals found within Town limits.

The Yucca Valley Animal Shelter says that they are currently operating beyond their capacity. They say that the facility is designed to house 57 medium and large dogs and is currently caring for approximately 108 dogs. The shelter says that pausing owner surrenders helps staff maintain appropriate care, cleanliness and daily operations for all animals.

The Yucca Valley Animal Shelter will continue to accept stray animals as required and respond to emergency animal-related situations. Shelter capacity will be reviewed regularly, and updates will be shared with the community as conditions allow.
