The Yucca Valley High School and Twentynine Palms High School track teams traveled to Coachella Valley High School on Wednesday to compete in the Desert Valley League Finals.
Yucca Valley Trojans
Trojans Coach Patrick Francis says that “almost all the runners got a personal best record, and the team qualified more individuals for CIF than we have in five years.”
Taylor Soares who took first and the high jump for the second year in a row. Syhelie Gilmore took first in the shot put. Ian Jarret took first in 100m and 200m.
Charlee Jones took third in the 300 m hurdles.
The Trojans will head to the CIF meet held at Yorba Linda High School on May 10.
Twentynine Palms Wildcats
The Wildcats won a dozen events: the girls earned 9 titles, and the boys took home 3.
Boys champions are:
- Maverick Burkleo – Discus – 121’4″ a personal record,
- Alex Jackson 110m hurdles – 16.50 a personal record,
- and Coy Wallace jumped 5-8 in the high jump.
- Alex Jackson led the boys in scoring with 18 points.
Sabrina Graham was a triple winner for the day: 100m hurdles (16.75), 200m (27.53), 4×1 relay scoring 22.5 points.
Eva Tili led all Wildcats with 26.5 points.

4x400m Relay – 1st Place
Eva Tili was voted the Desert Valley League Track MVP!
The Wildcats are heading to Carpinteria High School to compete in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Preliminary meet.
