Watch the rare Landers Quake found-footage VHS this Saturday at Belfield Hall in Landers

The Landers Quake shook the hi-desert back in June of 1992 and one Landers local captured the event on a VHS camcorder as soon as it started shaking. The two hours of footage eventually made its way to the Landers Thrift Store where decades later another Landers resident plucked it out of a  box out of curiosity.

The tape was digitized and was screened to a receptive crowd at an event at the Tiny Pony Tavern last year, and you now have another opportunity to see two hours of vintage 1992 hi-desert locations, homes, and damage from the magnitude 7.3 earthquake.

There will be a special screening of the remarkable found footage this Saturday (3/7) from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Belfield Hall Community Center. It’s only $5 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under, and it includes all the popcorn you can eat during the two-hour show. All proceeds from the screening will go toward Landers programs at the Community Center, and there is sure to be lots of stories shared and memories sparked at the screening.
