VOLUNTEERS PUT TRUSSES UP ON OLD SCHOOLHOUSE MUSEUM MEETING ROOM

Volunteers for the Old Schoolhouse Museum in Twentynine Palms put the trusses up on its new 2,200-square-foot multi-purpose building this weekend. For the “Topping Out” Saturday, Art Parker Jr. was there with a crane to lift the 240-pound trusses into place, and Larry Bowden, Jim Krushat, Carlos Lares, Joe Lares, Greg Mendoza, Les Snodgrass, and David Tilton installed 28 of the 34 wooden trusses. On Sunday, Bowden, Snodgrass, Carlos Lares and Joe Lares, finished the final six trusses. Also on site were architect Ann Congdon and engineer Craig Phillips. When complete, the building will house a 1,500-square foot multi-purpose room with seating for up to 200 people, a catering kitchen, restrooms, and storage space.
