Updated: Joshua Tree woman identified in fatal multi-vehicle collision in Morongo Valley on 4/24

Updated on 4/28/26 at 7:00 a.m.: The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has identified the victim as Ivy Fitzgerald, a 67 year-old resident of Joshua Tree.


A fatal traffic collision involving children caused hours of traffic delays in Morongo Valley.

On Friday (April 24) at 2:20 p.m., a multi-vehicle collision occurred on Twentynine Palms Highway near Rose Eden Drive in Morongo Valley. Preliminary information released by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicates that children were involved in the collision, and that everyone involved in the collision was taken by ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.

CHP information indicated that the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office had a presence at the collision. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.

All lanes of Twentynine Palms Highway were reopened by 4:15 p.m.
